Vet Techs are critical to the day-to-day function of veterinary practices and play vital roles in preserving animal health and welfare. This week we are celebrating our Veterinary Technicians as well as our students in training.

We asked our Vet Tech instructor, Molly Garcia a couple of questions:

  • What attracted you to this field?

I was attracted to field since I was a little girl, but I realized at the age fifteen, when I had to make the decision to let my dog, Yeller go over the “Rainbow Bridge” that if  I had to make such a difficult decision to send my dog to a place that has no suffering and could live forever.  This made me realize that I could help guide my future pet owners.

  • What made you decide to teach?

Having worked in a clinical setting for 20 years, I was looking for my next level of advancement.  The opportunities would have either been to move into practice management or teaching.  Teaching lets me continue to utilize my medical skills and pass along my knowledge to the next generation of Veterinary Technicians.

  • What do you like best about teaching?

Watching the students achieve their goal when they walk across the stage at graduation. That is when my team and I realized that we have impacted a student’s life.
