A surgical technologist provides absolutely essential support before, during and after surgeries, and are a vital part of the OR team. The City College Associate of Science in Surgical Technology program is providing students with the training and skills necessary to join the exciting world of the operating room as an entry-level surgical technologist.

What You Will Learn

Surgical technologists are involved in every stage of the surgical process and perform a variety of crucial tasks including – preparing and sterilizing all surgical instruments, organizing surgical instruments according to the surgeon’s preferences, collecting used instruments, preparing the operating room for surgery, post-op bandaging and monitoring patient vital signs. A surgical technologist literally sets the stage for the surgeon to be able to perform surgery in as seamless a way as possible. The City College Surgical Technology program can be completed in as little as 24-months. Graduates will have earned an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology Degree and are eligible to take the Certified Surgical Technology exam (CST) issued by the NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).
