Vet Techs are critical to the day-to-day function of veterinary practices and play vital roles in preserving animal health and welfare. This week we are celebrating our Veterinary Technicians as well as our students in training.

Today we ask Hollywood campus, Program Chair, Kim Augustin a couple of questions:

  • What attracted you to this field?

I became interested in veterinary technology while I was employed by Ralston Purina in an analyst and account manager role.  I found myself intrigued and eager to learn the science involved.  I then went back to school with the goal of being a pharmaceutical sales representative but fell in love with veterinary nursing.

  •  What made you decide to teach?

In my role as a veterinary technician supervisor at a small animal hospital, I enjoyed teaching and training so when a teaching opportunity presented itself I pursued eagerly.  Teaching was an exciting career opportunity and was and remains a great interest of mine.

  •  What do you like best about teaching?

Seeing students grow and become successful veterinary technicians.
