May 19-25, 2019, is the 45th annual National EMS Week and City College would like to take the time to feature some of our wonderful EMS Instructors as well as our EMS students.

Mr. Javier Rodriguez, City College EMS Lead Instructor, holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Care Administration and an Associates of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services. He has been a member of City College academic team since 2013.  Mr. Rodriguez has been a certified Firefighter in the State of Florida for 11 years and a certified Paramedic in the State of Florida for 13 years. Mr. Rodriguez started his career as an ER tech with Memorial Hospital Pembroke and has over 14 years of emergency medical experience. He now works for the  City of North Lauderdale and has provided public service to that City since 2010. He previously held the position of Lieutenant on an ALS transport unit and currently holds the position of Captain.  Mr. Rodriguez participates in many EMS Advanced Life Support competitions and attends EMS conferences throughout the state of Florida. Mr. Rodriguez has been involved with Emergency Medical Services education for over 5 years.
