Note to Academic Affairs re Summer 2017 Final Grades

Since many City College campuses were closed for finals week, the administration has created the following guidelines to facilitate students making up Summer 2017 final grades if they so desire.

  1. All students who completed their finals should receive their grade for the term. If students completed finals, submitted final projects, etc. Their grade is considered final for the term. This includes online courses.
  2. If a student did NOT complete their final, they have two choices.
  • They can accept the final grade they earned up till Week 10 (which should NOT include any work due in Week 11 pertaining to their final)
  • Or the student may choose to file a grade appeal which will allow them to\
  1. Complete final exams, submit papers, etc. and then earn a finals/Week 11 grade in the course. Students must submit this grade appeal no later than October 27, 2017. The faculty member will then submit a corrected grade for this course.
  • This includes online courses.
  1. If a student did NOT complete their final and they are registered for a course in the Fall 2017 term for which there is a pre-requisite, the student MUST meet the pre-requisite requirement for the course no later than October 6, 2017, to remain eligible to take the course.  This means if the student wishes to file a grade appeal for the pre-requisite course because of Hurricane Irma campus closures, they should do so IMMEDIATELY in order to complete the work during the break and earn a final grade to remain eligible to remain in the course. This includes online courses.
  2. For students who were taking externship courses or courses with required hours, you will receive an I (incomplete) until those hours are completed. Students should attempt to complete those hours prior to October 2, 2017, to remain eligible to stay in course for which they have a prerequisite.
