Transfer Students

City College evaluates credits for transfer from nationally or regionally accredited colleges and universities, technical and business schools. Credits are accepted for transfer provided:
- The courses are similar in objectives and content to those offered by City College.
- The courses can be applied toward graduation requirements.
- The letter grade (or equivalent) in the course is "C" or better (provided the "C" grade is defined as average or better).
Transfer credits for Nursing and EMS core courses must be a minimum “B” grade. City College does not accept transfer credits of NU/NUR prefix courses for the Nursing Program. Semester credits are multiplied by one and one-third to convert them into quarter credits. Fractional portions of credits are rounded on a course-to-course basis.
Credits in the area of general education may be accepted when earned before the seven year limit. The decision of the Director of Education/Director of Health Sciences Education is final on questions of transfer.
Transfer of Active Paramedic License
If a student transfers from an unaccredited or accredited school with an active Paramedic license and is applying for an Associate of Science Degree in EMS, then the Applicant must, in addition to meeting all Admissions criteria, register for six General Education classes, specifically ENC 1101 Composition, MAT1030 College Algebra, PSY1010 Principles of Psychology, one case from each of the following Disciplines Humanities and Arts, Mathematics and the Sciences, and Social and Behavioral Sciences; and ENC1100 College English, BSC1085 Anatomy and Physiology 1, and BSC1086 Anatomy and Physiology 2.
